About Riddlique

We spend most of our daily lives in Kyoto, Japan, and we’re always happy to see so many international travelers visiting this beautiful city. At the same time, with growing reports of overtourism, we began to think seriously about how local residents and visitors from abroad can coexist in harmony.

Riddlique is one approach to finding that balance. Kyoto, more than anywhere else in Japan, is a city where tradition lives on through everyday life. Through this journal, we explore the question, “Why do Japanese people…?”—a natural curiosity that arises from the cultural differences in habits, values, and ways of thinking.

By sharing insights into Japanese perspectives, customs, and cultural practices, we hope to help you understand Japan and its people more deeply, and to make your time here even more meaningful and enjoyable.
